Microsoft launches Live Maps in India

It is the first version of its local mapping service in India. The key features are developed by the Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC), Hyderabad. The same is available both on mobile phones and PCs.

MICROSOFT LAUNCHED its much-awaited Live Search Maps for India on Monday (November 3). It offers access to detailed street maps for nine major cities and business listings across 29 major cities. It also provides access to highway networks to 20,000 cities and towns.

It is the first version of its local mapping service in India. The key features are developed by the Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC), Hyderabad. The same is available both on mobile and PC. Besides, the Live Search Maps for India is available on Live Search Service of Microsoft.

While speaking to the media, Rishi Srivastava, the head of the consumer online marketing operations of Microsoft India, said that Microsoft has been conducting relatively significant investments into research and development for Live Search since the last two years. Srivastava further added that besides acquiring global resources, they had introduced some new but extremely relevant features, which would be of great value to the users.

The key features of this service are street maps, location search, routing or directions for navigation, business listing search, etc. It also allows users to print and share collections through email, blogs on Windows Live.

Apart from that, there are some other relevant aspects of Location Search on Live Search Maps eg global relevance, context-awareness, partial decoding of address, error-tolerance, acronym expansion, road intersection and context sensitive global fuzzy search.

After the very innovations for Live Search like image search, local search, video search, xRank and instant answers, Microsoft has rolled out the Live Search Maps on its search platform. It will enable people to discover, learn and even explore specific locations in India. Microsoft is also planning to include new features like landmark based driving directions, collections search, options for enterprise customers and developer community to create custom mash-ups in this service.

On mobiles, the Live Search Maps is a direct service to its customers without any interference from the mobile carriers. It will provide 2D Mobile Maps, location search, driving directions and also offers support in adaptive rendering for results from web, news, instant answers and spaces search.

Sony Ericsson and HTC to produce Android headsets for 2009

Company’s like Sony Ericsson and HTC have plans to launch Android headsets for 2009.

A Spokesman from sony ericsson confirms that they are going to implement the google powered headset devises at higher models first,and then focus on the cheaper models to increase the marketing rate.Apart from SonyEricsson,HTC also plans to launch the Android models in the next year and aims to produce by summer.This companies gives a great surprise by launching the Android headsets.Now we will wait for the release from both these companies.
